Andrew Developmental Disabilities Services is currently searching for a Community Outreach Specialist in the DD field.  The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for marketing the entity to consumers, parents, guardians, service coordinators, physicians, and the public. The ideal candidate for Community Outreach Specialist of Supported Living will be flexible, creative and have experience selling, promoting, presenting, and using his/her management skills.

Essential Position Functions

  • Generate consistent admissions of appropriate consumers to the company; develop and disseminate marketing materials to referral organizations and the community
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans for each consumer
  • Supervise and monitor services provided by supported living staffs to ensure the physical and mental well-being, safety, development and quality care for consumers that are in compliance with Federal and State policies, counties board’s procedures and regulations.
  • Hire and train all supported living staffs. Evaluate, assess and monitor performance of direct reports. Conduct supervisory sessions and performance evaluations. Develop appropriate training and performance plans.
  • Develop and implement employee performance improvement plans. Confer or participate in employee corrective action process and keep the President/CEO apprised of significant developments. Mediate conflicts and conduct investigations as required.
  • Meet and/or confer with consumers, parents, service coordinators, case managers, counties boards, DODD, funders, and others as required. Coordinate activities and maintain contact.
  • Visit consumers and/or sites; review and audit records for compliance of DODD, Counties Boards, and contract funding standards; review ISP/documentation plans, medications, and general business activities. Participate in and ensure completion of ISP documentation and other DODD, and CBFS mandated forms/reports within designated timelines.
  • Respond and advise in emergency on-call situations by participating in the cluster on-call phone rotation. Notify President/CEO and Counties Boards MUI of critical incidents within prescribed timelines.
  • Promote agency mission, values, philosophy and principles. Maintain effective intra-agency communication with the President/CEO.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.


Degree required – 4 years college degree in social work (LSW Preferred) or related field

Interest in outside sales and marketing, with demonstrated experience making sales pitch to consumers, parents, guardians, service coordinators, case workers, and healthcare professionals

Experience interacting and working with people in the DD communities (including consumers, parents, guardians, service coordinators, counties boards, states agencies, school personnel, physicians, nurses, discharge planners or social workers)

Capacity to effectively engage in meaningful dialogue with senior management in a decisive and convincing manner, and the ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with consumers, families, community members, volunteers and staffs.
